The Pearson BTEC Level 1 Introductory Award, Certificate, and Diploma in Engineering are for learners who want to continue their education and develop skills for employment.

• The Award is for those who want to study a sector unit and plan their next steps.

• The Certificate is for learners ready to progress quickly.

• The Diploma is a one-year vocational qualification.

What do these qualifications cover?

The qualifications were developed with input from colleges and providers to ensure they support further learning and training. All learners will study core units teaching transferable skills like research, planning, time management, and teamwork. Learners also take sector units providing a practical introduction to skills and knowledge in areas like engineering, including electrical installation, using hand tools, machining, and CAD.
